10 Weddings

Wild Sugar Homestead is located in the conservation district of West Newbury, VT. In keeping with our mission to steward this land as a community gathering place that is sustainable, regenerative, and resilient we will open our doors to only 10 large weddings per year. We vow to constantly improve our systems and services in the pursuit of a wedding experience that benefits the land and all of the beings that call the land home.

  • A Sprawling 70+ Acres

    A sprawling 70+ acres

    Paths and trails connect bucolic mountain views, a small orchard, perennial gardens, and two ponds. Walk just 300 feet down the road and you’re in Newbury’s gorgeous 636 acre Tucker Mountain Town Forest with 360 degree views at the summit of its namesake. On a clear day, you can see from Mt. Moosilauke to Mt. Washington! Our area also features some of the best gravel roads for cycling and plenty of trails for running. Come back in the winter and ski groomed nordic trails ON SITE!

    A Historic Home

    Built in the 1960’s by a local saw mill owner and completely redesigned in 1971 by architect and builder Ray Clark, the main dwelling at Wild Sugar Homestead beautifully integrates historic building practices with up-cycled materials. From 200 year old reclaimed beams to hand planed floor boards as wide as your dining room table, it’s easy to see how this house launched a career that landed him a spot in This Old House’s ‘Top 10 Contractors’ in 2005.

    A Party Barn

    Step 1: Accept the fact that the barn on your property blew down the week you moved in.

    Step 2: Disassemble a 200 year old barn in Connecticut salvaging as much material as possible.

    Step 3: Bring the material to Vermont and build a barn and stables that reflects the simple beauty of the land it sits atop.

    Abundance +

    We have a growing collection of fruit and nut trees, fruit bearing shrubs, perennial medicinal plants, and annual vegetables that are grown without the use of ANY herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. Additionally, we avoid plastics and fossil fuels whenever possible. Our practices go far beyond organic. Trust us, you’ll taste the difference at Sunday breakfast!

    Sustainable, Resilient Design

    Erik and Hallie’s latest project is bringing “permaculture” into the wedding industry. How can we design systems that produce more energy over their lifetime than was required to create and operate them? How can the land provide for you on your special day, and how can you provide for the land simply by choosing Wild Sugar Homestead?

    You won’t find a more environmentally conscious venue (although we hope folks start to find many more)!
